Background

The company had recently formed to provide a flexible, low cost, complete banking solution for financial institutions. It intended to acquire smart technologies from innovative Australian technology companies and integrate them into a single, competitive offering. The company had acquired its first major technology, and wanted to leverage its benefits by highlighting customer success stories. 

Challenge

To identify suitable candidates and write a compelling case study, to support the new acquisition, its technical advantages and our client’s overall offering; to devise a process to create case studies quickly and cost effectively to be used for other technologies and other acquired companies.

Solution

The acquisition was incomplete at the time of our engagement and our client’s name was not known to existing customers of the acquired company. To overcome this, we:

  • interviewed technical staff from the acquired company to understand the technology, the market, competitors and advantages
  • gained a list of customers who were using the technology
  • devised a survey to uncover the ideal case study candidate
  • interviewed 6 companies to gain the ideal candidate
  • created a case study template in a new corporate style
  • wrote the case study and managed edits between the customer, the acquired company and our client.

Results

In 2 weeks our client had gained:

  • detailed stories from 6 customers
  • detailed feedback on the product, its performance and performance of the acquired company
  • 2 interview templates, one to screen case study candidates and one to gain case study details
  • guidelines for selection of suitable case study candidates (product and customer)
  • a case study that clearly differentiated our client, the acquired company and the technology.
